Windmill
Windmill is a performance space in Seoul, South Korea, run by artists Boram Moon, Myungwoo Jung and Ikjung Cho.
As a playground/laboratory dedicated to performance, Windmill is a space where each individual artist is able to foster their own artistic practices. Approaching the space with a long-term perspective, Windmill collaborates with artists, curators and researchers with varying backgrounds by hosting performances, studies of performance and workshops. They aspire to expand the grounds of performance by cultivating the performative movement of contemporary art, founded upon the collaborations that formulate collegial networks and facilitate rapport and empowerment between artists.
Artist Boram Moon is in residence at Metroland Studio between September 2021–May 2022.
This invitation builds upon conversations between Moon and The Showroom throughout 2020-21, reflecting on the production of support structures for new artistic research, and ways of sustaining a wider framework for Moon’s work between the UK and South Korea.
The studio residency at Metroland creates a dedicated working space for Moon as a site for the development of her ideas, and the generation of future public programming with Windmill, strands of which will be developed towards co-hosting in partnership with The Showroom in 2022-23.
