The Showroom is a platform for contemporary art’s most compelling voices. For more than four decades, our gallery space has served as a critical site of experimentation and production for artists seeking to redefine what art can be and do. The Showroom has often been the first to present an artist’s work in London.

We are proud of our track record of identifying and championing artists who go on to work at the forefront of contemporary art. Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Mona Hatoum, Subodh Gupta and Eva Rothschild are among the artists who received pivotal early commissions here. The Otolith Group and Ciara Phillips received Turner Prize nominations for their projects at The Showroom, in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

Our commitment to artists is to work openly and responsively. To enable excellence, we offer them time and support to take risks and test daring ideas. In this process, our neighbours – residents, local businesses and community organisations – often become collaborators, contributing to the relevance and realisation of extraordinary artistic visions.

Recent projects bear this out. For her Showroom Mural Commission, Mandy El-Sayegh collaborated with a local charity that supports vulnerable and displaced women. Harold Offeh developed his Paddington Square billboard alongside young people from our own Schools and Young People programme Imagining Futures. Tuấn Andrew Nguyễn worked with the descendants of the builders of a boat from Luf Island in 1903 to devise an exhibition including storytelling as healing in the face of colonial appropriation.

Sustaining our ambitious local and international programme requires bold philanthropic support. As an independent charity, we must raise 100% of funds for our artistic programme. Giving to The Showroom is a direct investment in transformative contemporary art – defining the careers of a new generation of critical, inspirational artists and ensuring that London continues to incubate groundbreaking new work.

Friends - From £100 per annum
Become a friend and join our growing community. Your support will help sustain our ambitious and innovative programme of exhibitions, local projects, talks, and events. Friends receive a free Tote bag and a 10% discount on all Showroom publications. They are also kept up to date with our activities via our regular newsletter.

Patrons - From £1,000 per annum
Patrons enable the organisation to function, and their support feeds directly into artists’ productions, particularly artist fees and seed funding for projects. They are invited to special exhibition events and acknowledged on the gallery entrance supporters poster.

Director’s Circle - From £3,000-£5,000 per annum
A circle of key supporters whose involvement is vital to sustaining our organisation. Members of the circle get privileged access to commissions and exhibitions and opportunities to meet artists during the production stage of their exhibition. They will also receive invitations to special events and have regular contact with The Showroom’s director Gabriela Salgado, keeping them at the heart of what we do. They will also be acknowledged on the gallery entrance supporters poster.
