Ricardo Basbaum: re-projecting (london)
These maps and manuals are a result of nine projects by Basbaum organised in collaboration with Louise Shelley, Participatory Projects Curator at The Showroom. Each project connects to one of nine locations determined through the application of an abstract shape onto the map of the Church Street area.
Contributors to re-projecting (london) included seven artists, an anthropologist, an opera singer, a mathematician, a choreographer, and a wide range of individuals and groups from Church Street neighbourhood.
These nine projects were presented in The Showroom between 12 July – 17 August 2013. During this time the gallery functioned as an ‘open working room’ for collaborators, participants and the public to meet, discuss and work together. A programme of public events, performances, screenings and conversations ran throughout the month.
