OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
Stitching Workshop
, –
If you are interested in taking part please contact Magdalena Araus Sieber here
We are looking for young people under the age of 25, and older people over the age of 60, to participate in an intergenerational workshop. No previous stitching experience necessary.
Sound Stitching: Intergenerational Conversations
Kim Chin and Laura Khan Mitchison (On The Record) will lead a multi-sensory gathering (visual, tactile, and audio) in which participants will work in intergenerational pairs to listen to and respond to the oral histories collected in Nassim Azarzar’s Showroom Mural Commission: 'Hayat al Noujoum / La vie des étoiles'
The workshop will ask how do we attune our listening skills with softness? Can we communicate reciprocity through a common visual interpretation that connects different generations with diverse lived experiences and responsibilities?
The aim of the day is to inspire compassion and amplify narratives that are typically overlooked or not recorded. By creating space for the group to feel heard, seen, and more aware, collectively we will find agency in the big and small narratives that we embody.
There will be individual reflection, visual and text references, collaborative creative making, and a collective sharing and closing.
Lunch and materials will be provided.
