A free collage workshop with artist Alvaro Samuel Castro, exploring media overload, cultural identity and image-making. Using found materials, young people will create personal works that question what images we consume and why.
Alvaro Samuel Castro writes:
‘My practice is guided by images. From mapping my visual language to informing my research. I copy, archive, distort, reproduce, manipulate, cut. I am curious about the relationship between one image and the next, what happens when you see them in sequence or side by side or over and over.
We are flooded with images daily it can be exhausting, how do you even begin to make when so much exists? Join me in using collage as a tool to help us deal with this overload and in turn be creative and tell a story.’
This workshop is organised as part of Imagining Futures, The Showroom’s programme for Schools and Young People supported by John Lyon’s Charit
