Join artist Francesca Telling for a photography and creative writing workshop, where we will make zines, newsletters or posters to share stories found in the places we visit every day.
Taking a walk through Church Street Market, together we will explore what our local shopping spot might tell us about our neighbourhood and its community.
Using Church Street market as our site of research, we will gather information to help us understand political, economic and social justice issues relating to the things we buy - and discover the poetry to be found in shopping lists!
About the artist
Francesca Telling is an artist and facilitator from London. She uses photography, printmaking, language, interviewing and moving images to explore stories formed at the meeting points of people, places and times. Through collaborations with young people and archives, she works in institutional and anti-institutional contexts to address forms of hierarchy and exclusion in education, exploring how belonging, empathy, community and justice can be more embedded in the ways we learn.
This workshop is organised as part of Imagining Futures, The Showroom’s programme for Schools and Young People supported by John Lyon’s Charity.
