A gallery night infused with sound – a mix of all-time dance hits combined with Pacific islands traditional tracks, old skool and disco.

Join us for the closing event of Oceanic Visions / Moana te kite exhibition in an evening full of music and beats curated and played by Pacific artists Momoe i manu ae ala atea’e Tasker and Hanalee Vaike.

Karaoke – ‘to break the ice’ - or better said - ‘to open the tide’- the event will start with a karaoke session, one of the most beloved activities among Pasifika communities. Whether you’re an avid participant or spectator, karaoke brings people together. From punk, RnB, rock to disco the choice is yours, so come and belt out your favourite songs!

Followed by a Dance Party - Momoe and Hanalee will soak the exhibition space with a mixture of sounds from artists across the Pacific with some well-known pop songs thrown in for fun. It’s all about the vibes and going with the flow!

About the DJs

Momoe i manu ae ala atea’e Tasker, an afakasi agitator, is a multidisciplinary artist creating works rooted in expressions of solidarity which celebrate and investigate Pasifika diaspora identity. British/Sāmoan-Chinese teine raised in London, rooted in Taitoko, Aotearoa.

Hanalee Vaike is a multidisciplinary artist and performer and descendant of te Moana Nui O Kiva, (Kūki ‘Āirani, Sāmoa). Raised in the UK, rooted in Pasifika traditions and knowledge in te Enua o Paratane, Hanalee uses art and performance to uphold what has been directly passed through generations to them, while exploring how to strengthen and advocate for Pasifika communities and diaspora in the UK.
