Are you aged 16–21, live in Westminster and are passionate about social justice, the environment, and the arts?

If you’re curious about how art and creativity can respond to the world around us — and want to be part of shaping the future of a leading London art gallery — apply now for Young Curators!

Apply here!

What is Young Curators?

Young Curators is a new group of young cultural leaders (aged 16-21) at The Showroom Gallery.

As part of this group, we plan to:

– Collaborate with international artists working in London
– Visit galleries, artist studios and museums
– Curate public events, experiences and exhibitions for other young people
– Share your creative ideas and artwork with The Showroom’s audience
– Be part of shaping The Showroom’s future direction

This is more than a youth collective. Young Curators will be an important part of the wider leadership team at the gallery.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for creative, curious and committed individuals from a range of backgrounds. You don’t need to be an expert or have gallery experience — we’d especially like to hear from people with the following interests:

– The environment and climate care
– Anti-racist creative practices
– Curating or working with artists
– Writing or storytelling
– Social media, digital content, or marketing
– Organising events, community projects or working with young people

Programme Details
– When: July – December 2025 (6 months)
– Where: Weekly in-person meetings at The Showroom, NW8
– Who: Young people aged 16–21
– Deadline to apply: 27th June, 2025

What you’ll get:
– You will be paid for each session you attend

– Mentorship from gallery staff and artists
– Travel expenses within Zones 1–6 (just keep your receipts)
– Snacks and refreshments at every session

While most work will happen during meetings, there may occasionally be things to work on outside of those hours, like going on visits, planning events or attending exhibition openings.

How to Apply

Apply here by filling in a simple form. If shortlisted, we’ll invite you to a chat with our Schools and Young People’s Curator, Oliver Herbert. This meeting is very relaxed and you can ask us any questions you like.

We want this process to be accessible and welcoming — if you’d prefer to apply via video or voice note, or have any other access needs, just let us know.
