New Schools and Young People Curator

We are thrilled to announce that Catherine Morton-Abuah is our new Schools and Young People Curator.

Catherine is a visual artist, creative facilitator and DJ. Working as a successful illustrator with a practice dedicated to representing her worldly observations and the Black mundane, Catherine applies her life experience to deliver multi-disciplinary arts programming across schools, grassroots and cultural organisations. She is fiercely committed to creating spaces that support children and young people to build confidence through creativity.

As CAFFY, she has performed both live and created mixes for radio. Her motivation is to unearth dance music’s African roots and its global expansion by way of the Afro-Caribbean diaspora, with a special interest in Electronic Music.

Catherine will be leading the Imagining Futures programme creating opportunities for young people to connect with artists, develop creative skills, and explore ideas through collaborative workshops, field studies, and events production. Rooted in the local area of Church Street Ward in Westminster, the programme supports long-term relationships between The Showroom, schools, youth centres, and the wider community. Offering space for experimentation, conversation, and co-creation, young people are invited to think critically, create together, and imagine new futures for themselves and the world around them.

Imagining Futures is generously supported by John Lyon’s Charity.
