Join us at The Showroom for Embody - a day of poetry, spoken word and dance in response to Harold Offeh’s exhibition, TRUSTFUL STRANGERS INDUCE FEARLESS ALIENS.
In this first workshop learn about the importance of the UK Ballroom Scene in cultivating community and providing a space for uninhibited self-expression, with a focus on the role of the MC by way of poetry and spoken word with Ellis George and Ella Osho.
About Ellis George aka Medusa
Medusa is a non-binary East Londoner multi-hyphenate T causing mayhem on the mic and stage from Tate Britain to Venue MOT. An Actor (Small Axe, Doctor Who, BBC Proms) turned Voiceover Artist (Nintendo, Amazon, Nickelodeon, BBC), Poet (Tate, Reference Point, Roundhouse Poetry Collective) With Grenadian and St. Lucian heritage, they are a creative who keeps community at the heart of their work. Current projects include creating workshops and meet ups for Black Trans people across London.
About Ella Osho
Ella is a whimsical writer with a strong, distinctive voice shaped by life, imagination and a little magic birthed from the traumas of being a human being on this planet, through a Black, Trans, Female lens. With published work on ‘QueerAF’ and a growing personal Substack, she translates her complex inner world using metaphorical imagery into clear, engaging, and emotionally resonant narratives.
